Larch, known scientifically as Larix occidentalis, is sourced from Britain and Europe. It is appreciated for its strength and durability.
Heartwood ranges from pink to reddish-brown, with narrow sapwood that is yellowish-white and clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Flat sawn sections can exhibit a lot of character and interesting patterns in the growth rings. Dark brown knots are common and may loosen as the timber dries, sometimes resulting in resin patches that may ooze during subsequent hot summers. Due to its high resin content, English Larch is very strong and hard-wearing, proving to be twice as durable as common Pine.
Good – Larch works well with standard woodworking tools and techniques, producing a smooth finish.
Larch is durable, making it suitable for a wide range of exterior and structural applications.
Sawn to size as per request.
Specification: Green (Wet)
