Southern Yellow Pine

A strong and durable timber, perfect for joinery and flooring

Product Details

Southern Yellow Pine, known scientifically as Pinus palustris, originates from North America. The heartwood is yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, and the sapwood is lighter in colour.
This timber is typical of the hard-pine class, being resinous with well-marked growth rings. It has a rather coarse texture but offers good strength and durability.
Southern Yellow Pine works moderately easily but the resin can be troublesome, tending to clog saws and cutters. It can be glued, stained, and finished satisfactorily.
