American Ash

Versatile and attractive, perfect for all-purpose interior joinery

Product Details

American Ash, known scientifically as Fraxinus americana, originates from North America. Its sapwood is mainly white, and the heartwood ranges from light brown to reddish-brown, providing a visually appealing contrast.
American Ash is predominantly straight-grained, producing an attractive pattern on plain sawn boards. It is an inexpensive yet popular choice for a variety of interior joinery projects.
Although tough, American Ash works and machines quite well, finishing to a reasonably smooth surface. It can be glued, stained, and polished, making it a versatile option for various woodworking applications.
This timber is considered non-durable, so it is best used for interior applications where it will not be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
