Product Details

Non-stock product. Please enquire with the sales team. Minimum orders may apply

English Oak, known scientifically as Quercus robur, is available to order only, with minimum quantities applying and subject to stock availability.
Heartwood is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast, though there can be a fair amount of variation in colour. Nearly white to light brown sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from the heartwood. Quartersawn sections display prominent ray fleck patterns.
Medium to difficult – The working and machining properties of oak vary, with the mild to tough material either machining easily or with moderate difficulty. In general, oak finishes well from the planer or moulding machine, although in some cases, a reduction of cutting angle to 20° is preferable. The wood can be stained, polished, waxed, and glued satisfactorily, takes nails and screws well except near edges when the wood should be pre-bored, and takes liming and fuming treatments well.
English Oak is durable, making it suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
