Opepe, known scientifically as Nauclea diderrichii, originates from West Africa. It is produced to order for specific projects, with minimum quantities applying and subject to stock availability.
The heartwood is a distinctive uniform golden-yellow or orange-brown colour, clearly differentiated from the pinkish yellow sapwood, which is usually about 50mm wide. The texture is coarse, and the grain frequently interlocks, producing a striped or roll figure on quarter-sawn surfaces. Opepe is lustrous, very hard, and moderately heavy.
Good – Opepe works well with both hand and machine tools. It can be finished to a smooth surface with care.
Opepe is very durable, making it suitable for exterior and heavy-duty applications.

Thicknesses: Potentially up to very large sections.

Specification: Any section size up to very large sections.

The density of Opepe is approximately 752kg/m³.
Ideal for bridges, boatbuilding, marine applications, decking, and flooring.
