Larch (Canadian/European)
Strong and hard-wearing, ideal for cladding and construction
Product Details
Larch, known scientifically as Larix occidentalis, is sourced from North America and Europe. Note that Siberian Larch is now prohibited under environmental regulations, so we have sourced very similar qualities of Canadian and European Larch.
Heartwood ranges from yellow to reddish-brown. Narrow sapwood is yellowish-white and is clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Flatsawn sections can exhibit a lot of character and interesting patterns in the growth rings. Knots are common but usually small.
Good – Larch works well with standard woodworking tools and techniques, producing a smooth finish.
Larch is durable, making it suitable for a wide range of exterior and structural applications.
