Western Red Cedar (Canadian)

A premium, aromatic timber, perfect for cladding and joinery

Product Details

Western Red Cedar (Canadian), known scientifically as Thuja plicata, originates from North America. The heartwood is reddish-brown and non-resinous, providing a straight grain and somewhat coarse texture.
This timber displays a marked variation in colour when freshly felled and weathers to a silver-grey over time. It is prized for its appearance and ability to take and hold stains well.
Western Red Cedar works easily with both hand and machine tools. It requires care during mortising, planing, and moulding to avoid splintering and chipping.
This timber is durable, making it suitable for a variety of applications.
